Spotlight on…Nick Rodriguez

11 October 2022

This month, we introduce you to Family Law partner Nick Rodriguez. With over thirty years in the family law arena, he talks about his most memorable legal experience, the type of advice he provides and what first attracted him to a career in law.

What first attracted you to a career in law?

I thought it was an honourable profession – and I liked the idea that you could argue for a living!

What type of legal advice do you provide and to what sorts of client?

Money on divorce and private children act. My client base has historically been wide: from the very simple to the more complex, often involving companies, share structures and intervenors. I have acted for children who become parties to their parent’s children act proceedings, as well as parents and grandparents.

What is your most memorable legal experience and why?

Lots of my cases stay with me – children cases can be very impactful as can money cases but on a lighter note before going into family law I once acted for a client with an alleged dangerous dog and in a desperate bid to save the dog from an unfortunate end obtained a report from a canine behaviourist to avoid destruction. Happily, the dog survived.

What is your number one top tip for clients?

Keep calm, be reasonable  and play with a straight bat.
